Eloping in Brisbane in 2024. The Little BIG Love Experience
What is the process to get married?
So, you’ve decided that a small, intimate, short & sweet wedding ceremony is for you. GREAT! I’m excited! Here is the Little BIG Love Experience in a nut shell… it’s SUPER easy.
We cover the legal process:
Lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with me one month before your wedding date. How to lodge your NOIM?
1 - Complete the document.
2 - Have your signatures witnessed by a prescribed authority (as listed on page 4 of the document)
3- Email me a copy of the Notice of Intended Marriage. (& keep the original to give me later)
Supply a passport (Or Birth Certificate AND Photo ID)
Provide proof of the dissolution of any previous marriages (divorce or death certificate)
Organise a time & place to get married (yes, I can help you with ideas if you’re stuck)
You bring two witnesses (18 years of age+) to witness the ceremony and sign the legal documents. (Yes, they can be related to you. Yes, they could be random strangers.)
Sign a few legal documents (I provide these)
Say some legal wording (just a short sentence)
You can play music, make a grand entrance, say some personalised vows (if you choose)
I will personalise your short & sweet ceremony into something that is unique to you- if you want me to (I have a few questions for you to answer)
And, HEY PRESTO! You’re Hitched! We have a cheers, have a hug and then I leave you to celebrate in whichever way you choose.
I register your Marriage with Births, Deaths & Marriages. Please let me know if you require a REGISTERED MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (for name changes or any other reason) so I can assist you with the application.
Yes, I can help you with ideas if you’re stuck & provide details for photographers, florists, musicians, stylists, cake makers, picnic providers etc should you need them. If you are planning an outdoor wedding please have a wet weather plan in place.
If you are choosing a Little BIG Love Elopement, we don’t meet in person to plan, but keep the whole process super easy by emailing, chatting on the phone & FaceTiming to organise everything.
No, we do not have a rehearsal… but we do meet on the wedding day like old friends re-uniting.
