Including GRANDPARENTS in our ceremonies

How do we honour wisdom and our family history in our wedding ceremonies? How do we include those other special people in our lives?

It’s no secret that Grands are my favourite. I adore them, I love them, they make me cry.
They are simply the best. So, when Carla & Luke expressed how dear their Grands were to them I suggested we work out ways to include them in their wedding ceremony. When they told me they’d decided to ask Nanna Norma to share some wise words in their ceremony I was delighted.
I introduced her in the ceremony, and due to being a little wobbly on her feet, I went over to stand next to her, rather than asking her to come forward. Nanna Norma told me to hold on to her tight & I was more than happy to do so.

This is what she said...
Because you have chosen a life together,
May your joy deepen;
May your wisdom increase;
May your passion for life and each other intensify;
May your compassion for yourselves and other expand;
May your support and gentleness toward each other grow;
May your generosity to yourselves, each other, your family and friends be enhanced;
May goodness abide with you always
And may you flourish and prosper together.’

Honouring our Elders in ceremony is always encouraged - I highly recommend it.
Thank you, Carla & Luke for honouring Nanna Norma so well in your ceremony.
