Love - a decade on

Almost a decade into this gig I still get teary every now and then... but it’s rare that I am teary even before the ceremony starts...

Erin and Nick were married on their 10 year anniversary. They have a hilarious ‘getting together’ story, they have a beautiful little family, they have their own decade of love behind them.
They are also rad humans- super funny, stylish, cool (sorry guys-but you are) and if things turn out well- in about 20 more years we will be in-laws. (It’s normal to set your young kids up, yeah?)

I believe It’s pretty common to put extra pressure on oneself when doing something special for friends. The self imposed pressure is even greater when one of these friends is a colleague -a very successful, popular, good-at-her-job celebrant.

So, I was pretty amped up, excited, honoured to be asked, nervous and keeping my fingers crossed that I could create a ceremony that was all they were hoping & anticipating it would be.
I met with them just before they entered their ceremony space... and that’s when the tears appeared. Seeing them in all their excited glory, I couldn’t stop from getting a little emo. (To be honest, I cried when Erin asked me to marry them and then also earlier in the day while practicing the ceremony)

To cut a long story short, it was an incredible experience. Their guests were all along for the ride- (thanks for being so awesome y’all) and to watch the adoration on Nick & Erin’s faces as they spoke their words of gratitude and love and commitment was something I will never forget.
Thank you, legends for inviting me to be part of your lives. Totes hashtag blessed.
